It checks grammar, punctuation, spelling and typography, and points out where something has slipped. You see the suggested change in full, and nothing is altered until you accept it.

It counts the words and phrases you repeat across the entire manuscript, and checks whether the details still match from one chapter to the next. Some things only show themselves when the whole book is read at once.
Shows its working
Every note quotes the passage it comes from, so you can see exactly why it was raised. When it isn’t sure, it says so.

Fifth Chapter uses AI responsibly, because any tool trusted with unpublished writing has to protect it. It reads only your book. It never studies other writers to shape your story, and never uses your story to shape anyone else’s.
You make every change
Line-level fixes come as suggestions you can take or leave, one at a time. Anything larger comes to you as a note. We never rewrite a paragraph in your voice, and every change you accept can be undone.
We never train on your book
Your manuscript is never used to train or fine-tune any model, ours or a supplier’s. We put that in writing.
